Bug when creating camera animation from trajectory
Submitted by tekk on May 6, 2008 - 8:08am
Hi Derek,
when I create camera animation from ie. helix (motion -> trajectories -> convert from) I'm getting strange rotation of the camera with the motion. I also tried changing interpolation in 3DS and OgreMax object setting, but it didn't helped. I'm also getting strange results when I animate camera motion manually.
Sample scene is attached. Thanks for your time.

I'm not sure if it's a bug or just a limitation of Ogre's spline interpolation.
Thanks, that worked perfectly. But, as you say, when I select spline interpolation in the Object Setting dialog, same problem occurs. Is this a bug in Ogre?
I see the problem. When you don't have any node animations defined, the configured "Translation Interpolation" and "Rotation Interpolation" settings aren't used. This is a bug that I've fixed for the next release.
For now, to work around the problem, just add a Node Animation to the list in the Object Settings dialog.
Also, it's good that you selected "Linear" for the "Translation Interpolation", since I and many other people often encounter problems with Ogre's spline interpolation.
I believe that this is different bug. I tried the same thing with OgreMax 1.6.14 and the problem is still there.
This bug has been addressed in this post: http://www.ogremax.com/?q=node/111
I'll have a fix for this issue in the next release (probably tomorrow).
